Leibniz University Hannover – True to Its Name
In 2006, the university was renamed "Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Universität Hannover”
Founded by the scholar Karl Karmarsch in 1831, the Higher Trade School of Hannover started out with only 64 students. Today there are about 26,000 students in the natural sciences and engineering, the humanities and social sciences, and law and economics. In the future, too, studying, teaching and research should be enjoyable. This is why one of the stated goals of Leibniz University Hannover is to continually improve the quality of teaching and research.
